1 Person Injured, Royal Santos Arrested in DUI Crash on U Street [Merced, CA]

1 Hospitalized after Merced Hit-and-Run Accident on U Street

 
MERCED, CA (July 11, 2021) – On Friday, a person sustained injuries and Royal Santos was arrested after a DUI crash on U Street.
 
According to Merced Police Department, the incident involved two vehicles. Moreover, it happened in the area of Gracey Elementary School.
 
Reports revealed that one of the vehicles involved rolled over. Then, the driver fled the scene after the crash.
 
Furthermore, officers managed to locate the suspect driver, 20-year-old Royal Santos, in the 800 block of U Street. Santos sustained injuries consistent with a vehicle crash and showed signs of alcohol intoxication.
 
Moreover, paramedics transported a passenger of one of the vehicles to a hospital with traumatic injury to her arm. Responders also transported Santos for treatment.
 
Meanwhile, officials arrested Santos for felony DUI and fleeing the scene of a collision that caused the traumatic injury.
 
Also, authorities believe that alcohol intoxication played a role in the crash.
