Teen Hospitalized After Solo Vehicle Crash on Sky Harbor Road in Fresno County

Fresno County, CA (November 13, 2024) – A 16-year-old girl and an 18-year-old man were involved in a crash on Sky Harbor Road.

A 16-year-old girl and an 18-year-old man narrowly escaped with their lives after their car rolled over 200 feet down a hill in Fresno County, according to the California Highway Patrol (CHP).

At approximately 3:45 p.m. on Wednesday, the teenager was driving north on Sky Harbor Road when she allowed the car to drift to the right, striking the mountain. She then overcorrected, swerving left and veering off the road. 

The vehicle tumbled down the hill several times, crashing through multiple trees along the way.

CHP reported that the car rolled approximately 250 to 300 feet down the slope. Despite the severity of the crash, both occupants sustained only minor injuries. 

The driver complained of shoulder pain and was transported to the hospital for evaluation. Meanwhile, the passenger managed to climb back up the hill on his own.

Emergency responders, including the California Department of Forestry, extricated the girl from the wrecked vehicle and carried her to safety. 

CHP stated the car was traveling at a speed of 40 to 45 miles per hour at the time of the incident.

Authorities found no evidence of foul play, drugs, or alcohol involved in the crash. Instead, they attributed the accident to the driver’s inexperience navigating mountain roads. 

The girl’s parents have since been notified.
