82-Year-Old Female Pedestrian Fatally Struck near St. James Street in San Jose
SAN JOSE, CA (March 19, 2020) – Late Wednesday afternoon, an 82-year-old woman was fatally struck in a hit-and-run crash on 11th Street.
California Highway Patrol received reports around 4:50 p.m., March 11. Dispatchers arrived on South 11th Street and East St. James Street shortly after.
Authorities say a blue Honda Civic was traveling north through the intersection in reverse. There, the driver eventually struck the elderly female.
As a result of the impact, the pedestrian was transported to the hospital for further treatment of life-threatening injuries. However, she later succumbed to her injuries on March 16 due to the extent of her condition.
The Santa Clara County Medical Office did not disclose the woman’s identity due to pending family notification.
Meanwhile, the driver of the blue Honda escaped the scene and is still at large.
The surrounding area on 11th Street was closed off for a brief time during preliminary duties. However, the roadway has since reopened to traffic.
At this time, the crash remains under investigation.
Our condolences are with the family and friends of the female pedestrian who passed.
