Two Galt Police Officers Hospitalized after Head-On Crash on Highway 99 in Sacramento County

Sacramento County, CA (August 22, 2021) – Early Sunday morning, one driver died and four others sustained injuries in a head-on crash on Highway 99.

The fatal head-on crash in Sacramento County happened at around 4:35 a.m. on August 22, on the northbound lanes of Highway 99 north of Dillard Road.

The CHP said a Dodge Ram pickup truck was traveling in the southbound lanes before it crashed through a median concrete barrier and crossed over into the northbound lanes.

The truck then crashed head-on with a Galt Police Department patrol vehicle with two police officers inside.

As a result, the truck driver died and two passengers inside suffered moderate injuries and were taken to a local hospital for treatment.

Moreover, the two Galt police officers in the patrol car suffered major injuries and were taken to UC Davis Medical Center for treatment.

Further investigation into this fatal incident is ongoing.
