Driver Injured After Truck Crashes and Loses Logs in Lakehead
LAKEHEAD, CA (June 20, 2019) – A driver suffered minor injuries when a logging truck lost its load on the 5 Freeway at Dog Creek Road Tuesday morning.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the crash left the 5 South Freeway blocked due to the multi-vehicle accident that happened around 10:30 a.m.
Just five miles north of Lakehead, a big rig hauling rolls of logs crashed and overturned. The logs subsequently spilled onto the interstate before it struck a Toyota Tundra pickup truck heading southbound on the 5 Freeway.
The driver of the Tundra suffered only minor injuries and received treatment at Mercy Medical Hospital. The truck driver, on the other hand, suffered no injuries.
By 1:30 p.m., Caltrans noted that all southbound lanes were clear, but traffic remains backed up for approximately six miles.
