1 Hospitalized on N Interstate 35 Fiery Crash [Austin, TX]

Austin Big Rig Collision Results in Injury

Austin, TX (January 5, 2024) – A person was transported to a hospital following an N Interstate 35 fiery crash Thursday morning.

AFD and ATCEMS responded at 9:46 a.m. to the big rig collision on the 11900 block area of the freeway, on southbound service road near Parmer Lane.

Officers said they received a report that a car was underneath an 18-wheeler.

The 18-wheeler was on fire and firefighters worked to stop the flames while victims inside the vehicles.

Luckily, all the occupants were freed from the vehicles but the big rig and vehicles were still on fire.

At about 10:30 a.m., one patient was transported to an area hospital with possible serious injuries while another patient declined transport.

Meanwhile, troopers advised drivers to expect major traffic delays.

Officers are still investigating.
