1 Hospitalized after Car Collision on Newhall Avenue near Carl Court [Newhall, CA]

1 Injured in Newhall Car Collision

 
NEWHALL, CA (October 1, 2019) – A person sustained injuries in a car collision on Newhall Avenue on September 28.
 
Authorities received reports of the two-car collision at 7:52 p.m. on Newhall Avenue near Carl Court, Spokesperson Marrujo with the Los Angeles County Fire Department stated.
 
“There were two vehicles involved with one person trapped,” Marrujo added. “The patient has been transported to Henry Mayo (Hospital).”
 
“I had somebody call 911 and I went to go see what was going on,” Seomara Guerra, a nurse, stated. “The poor guy, his head was in the airbag… I did not move him at all, I unbuckled him, I moved the airbag and actually tilted his head and was speaking to him until somebody came to help us.”
 
Guerra answered the phone for the patient when it rang. As a result, the patient’s family arrived.
 
“I was just at the right place at the right time,” Guerra said.
 
The extent of injuries and condition of the victim remains unknown as of this time. However, an investigation is ongoing.
 
Authorities advised Santa Clarita motorists to expect a slowdown headed west on Newhall Avenue, with traffic backed up as far as Sierra Highway as of 6:40 p.m.
