Man Found Dead after Crash near Highway 160 and Highway 4
ANTIOCH, CA (June 14, 2018) – A man died in a single-car crash near Highway 160 on Thursday morning after he was ejected from his car.
The man was found dead about 6:17 AM along the southbound lane of the Highway 160 connector ramp to westbound Highway 4. The 1991 Honda Accord was found on its roof and the man was on the road.
According to the investigatiors, the Honda crashed into a large highway dirt embankment which separates two highways near the Antioch bridge. California Highway Patrol officials are speculating that the man was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the accident. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The exact time of the crash was unknown because the area was not well-lit and the crash could have happened hours before a witness saw the wreckage. It was not immediately confirmed if drugs or alcohol were involved in the incident.
Heavy traffic backed up onto the bridge as an investigation occurred.
The victim’s name has not been released pending notification of relatives. Anyone with information about the fatal accident is asked to call the CHP’s Contra Costa office at (925) 646-4980.
