1 Killed in Redwood City Car Crash
REDWOOD CITY, CA (February 27, 2020) – A female passenger died in a rollover crash on Highway 101 on February 23.
The Redwood City California Highway Patrol revealed that the early-morning car crash happened on southbound Highway 101.
At about 3:20 a.m., the authorities came to the crash scene after receiving a report of a vehicle that rolled over on the right shoulder near Veterans Boulevard.
According to Sergeant Miguel Andrade, a car drove off the highway and up an embankment, going airborne until it hit a light pole.
The officials confirmed that the driver of the vehicle was an 18-year-old female from San Jose. The extent of her injuries remains unknown as of this time. Meanwhile, her female passenger died at the scene. The deceased’s identity is also undisclosed as of this moment.
The authorities are still investigating the collision. They also believe that alcohol played a role in the collision.
The California Highway Patrol advises motorists to never drink and drive. It is recommended to use ride share service apps when inebriated. They are also urging anyone with information on the crash on Highway 101 to call the Redwood City CHP area office.
