Fatal Bakersfield Head-On Crash on Taft Highway
BAKERSFIELD, CA (June 7, 2019) – One person died in a head-on crash on Taft Highway Wednesday near Mountain Ridge Drive.
According to Bakersfield police, a blue sedan veered into the lanes. After that, a utility truck hauling a power pole collided with the sedan, triggering the crash on Taft Highway.
The driver in the compact vehicle died at the scene shortly after. However, authorities are still perplexed as to what caused the driver to enter the opposing lane of traffic.
Neither car had any passengers, say reports, and the utility truck driver escaped injury.
According to police, investigators ruled out impairment and speed as possible factors in the incident. Anyone with additional information regarding this accident are urged to call 327-7111.
We would like to take this moment to express our heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family and friends of the victim.
