1 Killed and 2 Injured in Oceanside Auto Accident on Mesa Drive near Martin Luther King Jr Park
OCEANSIDE, CA (September 12, 2021) – Friday night, a person died after a drag race ended in a crash on Mesa Drive near Martin Luther King Jr Park.
According to Oceanside police traffic Sgt. Rick Davis, the incident happened at around 7:40 p.m. Moreover, it occurred on Mesa Drive near Martin Luther King Jr Park. It happened just between Old Grove Road and Rancho Del Oro Drive.
Reports revealed that a Dodge Charger lost control while racing a silver vehicle. Then, the Charger spun out of control and collided with a mini cooper traveling in the opposite direction. Afterward, the Charger came into rest next to a light pole about 350 feet from the collision site.
Furthermore, officials confirmed that the Dodge driver died at the scene.
Meanwhile, paramedics transported two people inside the Cooper to a hospital with serious injuries.
Moreover, the silver vehicle racing against the Charger fled the scene. The vehicle drove west on Mesa Drive, toward Rancho Del Oro Drive.
The incident remains under investigation.
