Fatal Head-On Accident in Death Valley
DEATH VALLEY, CA (December 23, 2019) — One person died Saturday in a Highway 190 head-on crash near Highway 127 in Death Valley.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the fatal collision ensued around 5:27 p.m., 13 miles west of Death Valley Junction.
A 29-year-old Albuquerque man was driving a 2018 Nissan Sentra eastbound on Highway 190. In an attempt to pass other slower-moving vehicles, the New Mexico man used the opposite lane of traffic and purportedly ran out of road clearance and collided with a westbound 2018 Honda Accord.
Unfortunately, a 51-year-old woman—an occupant of the Honda—died in the crash. Seven others were injured in the crash, but the extent of their injuries is unclear.
Authorities are working to uncover any factors that drove the collision.
