33-year-old Connie Hill Badly Injured in Deadly San Jacinto Head-On Crash

SAN JACINTO, CA (January 29, 2019) – An elderly man was killed and a woman was badly injured following a head-on crash late Tuesday evening on Highway 79 at Gilman Springs Road.

The deceased has been identified by the Riverside County Coroner as a 72-year-old Zulfiqar Chaudhry of San Jacinto.

Around 11:12 p.m., Chaudhry was driving a white 2004 Honda Civic southbound Highway 79, while a female driver of a silver 1998 Honda Accord was heading northbound.

For unknown reasons, Chaudhry’s car drifted left, across the center median, and into the path of the woman’s car, colliding it head-on. One of the cars went over the embankment.

Chaudhry was pronounced dead at the scene 20 minutes after the crash.

The woman, identified as a 33-year-old Connie Hill of San Jacinto, was trapped inside the mangled car and fire crews used the Jaws of Life to extricate her. She was rushed by ground ambulance to Riverside University Health System Medical Center in Moreno Valley with serious injuries.

There were no passengers in either vehicle.

Alcohol, drugs or medical conditions have not been ruled out as factors in the crash, which remained under investigation.

Our deepest condolences are with the family and friends of Zulfiqar Chaudhry. We also wish Connie Hill a swift and steady recovery.
