MERCED COUNTY, CA (August 23, 2022) – Saturday afternoon, Zoe Maria Canto suffered injuries in a two-vehicle crash on Highway 165.
 
The incident happened at 1:47 p.m. on Highway 165 and Williams Avenue.
 
According to reports, 20-year-old Zoe Maria Canto of Atwater drove a 2006 Chevrolet Silverado east on Williams Avenue. Then, Canto stopped at a stop sign before driving into the intersection. However, she failed to yield to 56-year-old Ruben Sicairos of El Centro. Sicairos crashed with Canto as he pulled two trailers of grapes with a 2015 Freightliner.
 
As a result, the front of the Freightliner crashed with the driver’s side of the Chevrolet causing the truck to overturn.

The impact ejected Canto who failed to wear a seat belt at the time of the crash. Meanwhile, the Freightliner overturned after the crash and spilled grapes across the road.
 
Reports confirmed that Zoe Maria Canto sustained major injuries in the collision. Then, responders took her to Doctors Medical Center for treatment. Meanwhile, Sicairos did not sustain any injuries.
 
Moreover, officers found a large amount of marijuana, hashish, and psilocybin inside the Chevrolet.
 
At this time, the authorities haven’t made any arrests but they will file a complaint with the Merced County District Attorney’s Office.
 
Furthermore, the crash shut down a section of Highway 165 for about three hours.
