Injuries Reported in Huntington Beach Hit-and-Run Collision
Huntington Beach, CA (October 25, 2022) On Thursday, police arrested 31-year-old Zion McKenzie after a hit-and-run collision on Pacific Coast Highway that caused injuries.
Huntington Beach police say that McKenzie was reported driving north recklessly on Pacific Coast Highway from Newland Street. Reports say that McKenzie ran through multiple red lights and was driving at high speed.
A motorcycle officer attempted to stop the reckless driver, but McKenzie continued driver, hence police gave chase. Due to the speed McKenzie was going, authorities called off the chase and used a helicopter to track the suspect.
Meanwhile, McKenzie collided with 2 other vehicles and fled on foot without rendering aid to the occupants of the other vehicles. A campus officer caught McKenzie and police arrested the suspect.
Authorities charged Zion McKenzie with failing to stop in a hit-and-run accident injury and evading police and reckless driving among others.
