Zachary Rau Arrested after Startling 3-Vehicle Crash on Balfour Road and McViking Way [Brentwood, CA]

Injuries Reported in Brentwood Multi-Vehicle Accident on Balfour Road and McViking Way

BRENTWOOD, CA (May 2, 2024) – Tuesday, Zachary Rau was arrested after a startling 3-vehicle crash on Balfour Road and McViking Way.

The incident happened at around 9:30 p.m. on westbound Balfour Road and McViking Way.

Preliminary investigations have revealed that 26-year-old Rau was reportedly driving his Chevy Silverado at high speeds before colliding with a Toyota RAV-4 driven by a 31-year-old man from Brentwood. Subsequently, after being struck by the Chevy Silverado, the RAV4 collided with a Honda HR-V driven by a 37-year-old man from Brentwood, according to the police.

A passenger from Rau’s vehicle, a 26-year-old Antioch male, sustained “serious” injuries and was transported to a local hospital. Fortunately, the police state that he is expected to survive.

The driver of the RAV4, the 31-year-old Brentwood man, was found unconscious and unresponsive by police at the crash scene. He suffered serious injuries that necessitated extraction from the vehicle and was subsequently airlifted to a local hospital. Police have disclosed that he is currently receiving treatment for his injuries and remains in an unstable condition.

Thankfully, the driver of the HR-V, the 37-year-old Brentwood man, did not sustain any injuries in the collision.

Following treatment for minor injuries at a local hospital, Rau was arrested and booked at the Martinez Detention Facility on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol, causing injury.

Due to the ongoing investigation, the names of the other drivers involved are being withheld by the police.
