Motorcyclist Zachary Morgan Dead after Rear-End Collision on Interstate 680
Fremont, CA (May 9, 2020)– A reported collision on Interstate 680 killed Zachary Morgan on Thursday morning.
On May 7, at about 6:57 a.m., a motorcycle accident took place in the southbound lanes of I-680, just north of Mission Boulevard.
California Highway Patrol rushed to the scene and found the motorcycle and car that collided on the road.
CHP Officer Tyler Hahn reported that they located the 2006 Chevrolet Impala in the far right lane of the road. A 33-year-old man from Oakland was the driver of the vehicle.
Hahn later said the victim, a 20-year-old man from Fremont, initially drove on a white 2008 Kawasaki Ninja motorcycle.
Additional reports stated the motorcyclist failed to stop before hitting the Impala, rear-ending it.
The impact of the crash ejected the motorcyclist from his vehicle onto the roadway.
It is also still unclear whether the motorcyclist wore a helmet when the crash happened.

Furthermore, the motorcyclist was transported to San Jose Regional Hospital but he later died due to the sustained serious injuries.
Meanwhile, the Impala driver was uninjured and helped out with the investigation.
The two-far right lanes on I-680 was closed off for a brief time as the investigation continues.
