Apple Valley Woman Killed in Early Morning Hit-and-Run Crash on 210 Freeway near Arden Avenue
SAN BERNARDINO, CA (July 10, 2019) – A man was arrested following a fatal DUI hit-and-run crash early Wednesday morning on 210 Freeway.
The crash happened around 1:08 a.m., just east of Arden Avenue near Highland Avenue. Dispatchers arrived to the area shortly after.
According to reports, a blue 2018 Dodge Charger, driven by 33-year-old Zacharia Jorel Zile, crashed into the back of a tan 1999 Lincoln Navigator. The Lincoln was driven by a 49-year-old Apple Valley woman.
The impact sent the Lincoln off the right shoulder of the freeway and into a light pole. The woman suffered major injuries and was rushed into a local hospital, where she later died. However, her identity was not immediately available.
Furthermore, Zile also reportedly fled the scene without rendering aid.
A short time later, police arrested Zile on suspicion of murder, driving under the influence and hit-and-run. He was also eventually booked into the West Valley Detention Center.
The surrounding area was closed off for a brief time while crews worked to clear the wreckage.
