YuYang Sun of Arcadia Arrested in Fatal Crash near the Santa Monica Pier [Santa Monica, CA]

Santa Monica, CA (October 20, 2024) – 21-year-old YuYang Sun of Arcadia was arrested following a fatal crash near the Santa Monica Pier late Thursday night.

It was around 11:20 p.m. when the authorities received a report about a silver SUV that was struck on the sand.

Responding officers found an unconscious female, believed to be homeless, wedged beneath the SUV.

Despite the rescuers’ efforts to reach the victim and provide aid, the Santa Monica Fire Department declared the female deceased. 

The rescuers were able to finally lift the vehicle and extricate the victim.

The authorities withheld the identity of the deceased pending notification of kin.

Meanwhile, the 2015 Infiniti SUV driver, Yuyang Sun, was reported to be driving in circles at high speeds on the sand when he ran over the victim.

He was booked on suspicion of driving under the influence, reckless driving, and gross vehicular manslaughter.
