Yuba Man Dies, Sergio Garcia Ochoa Involved in Carlson Road Pedestrian Accident [Sutter County, CA]

Sutter County, CA (August 19, 2021) – On Wednesday, a 24-year-old Yuba City man lost his life in a pedestrian accident on Carlson Road involving 35-year-old Sergio Garcia Ochoa of Gridley. 

The accident took place at about 7:45 a.m. north of O’Banion Road.

Investigating officers said Ochoa was working on a peach tree shaker. At the same time, a worker was standing between the work truck and trailer while speaking to another worker. 

Ochoa finished working, got into his 2009 Ford F550 and started to drive away. However, another worker asked him to stop driving. 

Ochoa got out of his vehicle and discovered that he had struck one of the workers that was standing between his truck and trailer.

Responding officers pronounced the Yuba City man dead at the scene due to blunt force trauma. 

Meanwhile, the authorities are still investigating the cause of the accident. They did not provide any details on the identity of the deceased and did not arrest anyone.
