Yovanny Felix and Emmanuel Rivas and Grandparents Dead after Pedestrian crash on San Pasqual Valley Road in Escondido
ESCONDIDO, CA (May 7, 2020) – Tuesday evening, two children named Yovanny Felix and Emmanuel Rivas, as well as their grandparents, died in a pedestrian accident on San Pasqual Valley Road.
Escondido Police first received reports of the accident around 8:30 p.m., on San Pasqual Valley Road.
A northbound car struck Carmela Camacho, 50, her partner Abel Valdez, 33, and their two grandchildren, Yovanny Felix, 10, and Emmanuel Rivas, 11.
Both Abel Valdez, and Emmanuel Rivas died at the crash scene.
Medics transported the Carmela Camacho and Yovanny Felix to Palomar Medical Center for further treatment. However, they were both later pronounced dead at the hospital.
Meanwhile, authorities identified the driver as a 28-year-old female resident of Escondido. Responders took her to the hospital with moderate injuries. She was not arrested.

A woman named Norma Espinoza claimed that the victims were her mother, stepfather, and two sons. According to her, the four were having an evening stroll when the crash occurred.
Espinoza set up a GoFundMe account to gather funds for the funeral expenses.
Moreover, Walters said that intoxication did not play a role in the crash. However, two witnesses noted that the driver smelled of alcohol and may have been on her phone at the time of the impact.
Escondido Police also have not determined whether the family used a crosswalk at the time of the collision. However, witnesses say the victims were strolling north on the sidewalk and were struck from behind.
The crash remains under investigation and the authorities are urging witnesses to call Escondido Police Officer Nelson at 760-839-4407.
