Fatal Motorcycle Crash on Beasore Road in Bass Lake
BASS LAKE, CA (July 20, 2019) – A 22-year-old man died in a motorcycle crash on Beasore Road Saturday morning in the foothills of Madera County.
The crash happened at Beasore Road and Road 274, about a mile East from Jones Store. According to the CHP, the man was riding his 2016 Kawasaki KX250F motorcycle westbound on Beasore Road. He attempted to negotiate a turn when he lost control and struck a tree. He was not wearing a helmet and hit his head.
The victim was reportedly taking turns with friends. When his friends did not hear the sound of the engine for a while, they went to investigate and found the victim at the scene of the crash.
A Forest Service crew in the area stopped to assist and Sheriff’s deputies also responded. Despite life-saving efforts, the rider was pronounced deceased at the scene. His name has not yet been released pending notification of next of kin.
Officials said the type of dirt bike the victim was riding was not street legal and meant to be used only for off-roading.
Further investigation of this crash is underway.
