Injuries Reported in Police Chase Accident on Atlanta Avenue and Newland Street

 
HUNTINGTON BEACH, CA (August 8, 2022) – Saturday morning, authorities arrested Yonathan Acosta and Tyrece Sinkler after a fiery crash on Atlanta Avenue.
 
The incident occurred at around 5:15 a.m. on Atlanta Avenue and Newland Street.
 
According to reports, two men stole catalytic converters which Huntington Beach police on a chase. Then, the chase ended in a fiery crash.
 
A police officer found a speeding vehicle leaving a residential tract and tried to pull it over. However, the white car fled north on Newland as the officer tried to catch up.

Eventually, the car failed to yield at a red light and hit an uninvolved vehicle. Then, the impact set the suspect vehicle on fire.
 
Afterward, officers took the two suspects into custody and transported them to a hospital with minor injuries.
 
Meanwhile, the driver of the other vehicle sustained minor injuries.
 
“A search of the suspect’s vehicle revealed multiple freshly cut catalytic converters, a saw, and numerous used and new blades,” a police statement revealed.
 
After the hospital medically cleared 18-year-old Yonathan Acosta of Norwalk and 22-year-old Tyrece Sinkler of Long Beach, officers booked them into Huntington Beach City Jail on felony charges.
