At Least 4 Vehicles Involved in Fatal Morning Crash on 5 Freeway near 405 Freeway
GRANADA HILLS, CA (November 8, 2019) – A woman was killed following a multi-vehicle crash Friday morning in Granada Hills.
The crash happened around 5:15 a.m. on southbound 5 Freeway near the connector ramp of 405 Freeway.
At least four vehicles were involved in the crash. Witnesses told officials that a sedan weaved across from the right side of the freeway to the carpool lane, hitting the other three vehicles.
As a result, one person died at the scene. The county coroner later identified the victim as Yessenia Camacho, 28, of Lancaster.
Sky5 video showed a car with heavy front-end damage stopped across two lanes. Another vehicle appeared to have crashed into a railing on the side of the freeway.
Officials blocked several freeway lanes as they assessed the scene, causing delays during morning commute. Traffic was backed up into the Newhall Pass.
The crash remains under investigation.
We would like to send our sincere sympathies to the grieving family and friends of Yessenia Camacho.
