Yelena Fedorova Killed in Pedestrian Collision on East Charleston Road in Palo Alto

87-Year-Old Woman Fatally Struck by Pickup Truck between Nelson Drive and Carlson Circle

 
PALO ALTO, CA (May 5, 2018) – A pedestrian collision on East Charleston Road took the life of an elderly woman, on Saturday evening. She was later identified by the Santa Clara County Medical Examiner-Coroner’s Office as 87-year-old Yelena Fedorova of Stevenson House.
 
According to the police, the collision took place on the 400 block of East Charleston Road at around 8:39 PM. Fedorova was crossing in an unmarked crosswalk going north across East Charleston Road, when a red 1985 Toyota pickup heading westbound struck her.
 
Fedorova sustained critical injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene of the collision. The driver of the pickup truck, described to be a woman in her 20s, stayed at the scene and cooperated with the investigators. She was not arrested or cited, and drugs and alcohol were not considered as factors that contributed to the deadly collision.
 
Affected areas, specifically between Nelson Drive and Carlson Circle, were temporarily shut down for the investigation, which is still ongoing. Authorities are encouraging witnesses and anyone with relevant information to contact the department’s 24-hour dispatch center by calling (650) 329-2413.
