Rider Dies in Highway 178 Motorcycle Collision
Bakersfield, CA (June 24, 2022) – On Thursday, Yates Brooks, 49, of Los Banos, was involved in a collision on Highway 178 killing a 64-year-old 2002 Harley Davidson male rider.
The authorities received the incident report at 6:27 p.m. near Democrat Road.
Officers say Yates Brooks was driving a westbound 2010 Ford Edge on the freeway at around 35 to 40 miles per hour.
At the same time, the motorcycle rider was eastbound on the highway east of Democrat Road.
The motorcycle rider veered left and crossed a set of double yellow lines. Then, the motorcycle crashed into the left side of the Ford Edge.
Investigators say the impact of the collision threw the rider from his motorcycle and they declared him dead at the scene.
