26-Year-Old Livermore Woman Fatally Struck by Car on East Avenue
LIVERMORE, CA (August 4, 2019) – A 26-year-old woman died in a pedestrian accident Sunday evening in Livermore.
Police and coroner’s office identified the victim on Monday as Yaneli Morales of Livermore.
According to reports, a westbound vehicle struck Morales around 8:43 p.m. while she tried to cross in the 3800 block of East Avenue. She was about 100 feet east of the nearest crosswalk when she was hit.
Morales suffered fatal injuries as a result of the impact. After that, authorities pronounced her dead at the scene.
Furthermore, reports also indicate that the driver stopped and cooperated with police.
The surrounding area closed off for a brief time while crews worked to clear the scene. However, the roadway has since reopened.
A GoFundMe page was set up by Morales’ family to raise money to pay for her memorial service.
Although the investigation into this fatal crash remains ongoing, DUI and/or speeding are not currently considered as factors.
