69-Year-Old San Francisco Man Fatally Injured in Crash between Capay and Cadenasso
YOLO COUNTY, CA (April 7, 2018) – A head-on collision on Highway 16 took the life of a man and injured another, on Saturday afternoon. The victim was later identified as 69-year-old Xin Ming Li, a resident of San Francisco.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the collision occurred around 3:48 PM. Li was driving a white Scion XB eastbound on State Route 16, between Capay and Cadenasso, when the vehicle strayed from the road into the right shoulder.
He tried to drive back into the proper lane but due to miscalculations on distance, the vehicle was sent across the center median where it collided with a westbound silver Toyota Prius.
Li was rushed to the Kaiser Permanente Vacaville Medical Center where he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead. Toyota Prius’ driver, a 64-year-old woman from Pleasanton, was taken to UC Davis Medical Center with major injuries.
Both drivers were reportedly secured in a seatbelt when the accident happened. Investigators are still trying to figure out what caused Li to drift away from the road in the first place.
