Gig Harbor Crash Injures Officer
Gig Harbor, WA (July 19, 2021) – On Friday, a WSP trooper was injured in State Route 3 crash.
The accident happened at about 11:45 a.m. near Grapeview.
A Shelton woman and her passenger were northbound on State Route 3.
At the same time, the trooper was southbound with lights and sirens activated. It was responding to an incident in the area.
Meanwhile, a southbound Gig Harbor man pulled over to the shoulder to yield to the trooper.
However, the Shelton woman was driving too fast.
Witnesses said she saw the emergency lights and heard the sirens. She then hit the brakes and lost control of her vehicle.
Then, the woman crashed into the trooper and the Gig Harbor man’s Toyota Prius. No other trooper was injured in the crash.
The trooper drove herself to an area hospital after the incident.
Officers are investigating the State Route 3 crash.
