Richland Traffic Accident Injures 2 People

Richland, WA (July 2, 2023) – Minutes past 2 p.m. on Friday, a WSP officer and another person were injured in a vehicle collision on Interstate 182.

WSP Trooper Chris Thorson stated that the officer who was driving an unmarked vehicle, pulled over to help a big rig on the shoulder of the westbound lanes near milepost 1. The big rig was being towed and partially blocked the right lane.

Then, another vehicle slowed down behind the officer’s vehicle, but was rear-ended by another vehicle. As a result, the slowed vehicle crashed into the trooper’s stopped patrol car.

Thorson said the involved officer sustained minor injuries and was transported to the hospital while the driver who was rear-ended incurred unknown injuries.
