Driver Dead, 2 Injured in Wrong-Way Car Accident in San Diego
SAN DIEGO, CA (March 18, 2019) – A wrong-way fiery crash on the 805 Freeway near the 8 Freeway connector claimed a driver’s life Saturday.
According to the California Highway Patrol, a Mitsubishi Lancer traveling northbound in the southbound lanes collided with a Toyota Sienna minivan around 3 a.m.
Sometime during the wrong-way travel, a Kia Soul became tangled in the mayhem, also injuring that driver.
As a result of the wrong-way impact, the van burst into flames, torching the involved cars.
Per reports, the minivan and the wrong-way driver sustained life-threatening injuries, so severe that the wrong-way driver died shortly after.
Authorities are investigating the cause and circumstances that led up to the impact.
