Tragic Wrong-Way Crash on Interstate 20 Kills 2 Drivers [Tye, TX]

Tye, TX (August 5, 2024) On Sunday morning, 2 drivers were killed after a horrific wrong-way crash on Interstate 20.

Reports say that the collision involved a compact silver Toyota sedan and a Dodge Ram pickup. Additionally, officials say that a total of 4 vehicles were involved in the crash, including a semi-truck that crashed into the disabled Dodge Ram and caused debris to damage another vehicle.

According to the Tye Police Department, the fatal head-on collision happened around 2:46 a.m. at the eastbound 278-mile marker on I-20.

Officials say that the Toyota was observed to have entered the 278 off-ramp and heading westbound in the eastbound lanes. Authorities say that officials tried to alert the driver, however the driver of the Toyota continued driving the wrong-way and collided head-on with the Dodge.

Authorities declared both drivers dead at the scene. Officials are investigating the fatal crash.
