Infant and 2 Others Hurt in Fatal Traffic Collision near Corral Hollow Road
Tracy, CA (April 01, 2024) On Saturday morning, a wrong-way collision on Interstate 580 westbound left 2 people dead and 2 others with major injuries, including an infant.
According to the California Highway Patrol (CHP), the fatal traffic collision happened at about 2:04 a.m. on I-580 westbound, west of Corral Hollow Road.
Reports say that an eastbound Honda Accord on westbound I-580 crashed head-on with a westbound Kia Telluride.
Officials say that the 18-year-old Antioch man driving the Honda was ejected from his vehicle and was thrown into the center median, officials pronounced him dead at the scene.
Meanwhile, the Kia’s driver, identified as a 32-year-old Fort Bragg woman, and her 3 other passengers, a 35-year-old woman, a 4-year-old passenger, and a 2-month-old infant were all taken to the hospital.
Medics say that the 35-year-old woman and 2-month-old infant suffered critical injuries, while the 4-year-old sustained minor injuries. Officials say that the Fort Bragg later succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced dead at the hospital.
CHP is investigating the fatal 2-vehicle crash and has not released additional information at this time.
