Horrific Wrong-Way Accident on Interstate 5 Kills 2 People [Tumwater, WA]

Chehalis Woman and 2-Year-Old Boy Killed in Tragic Wrong-Way Crash on Interstate 5

Tumwater, WA (November 11, 2023) On Friday evening, 31-year-old woman and 2-year-old boy both from Chehalis died, and an 8-year-old girl in a wrong-way accident on Interstate 5.

According to the Washington State Patrol, the deadly wrong-way crash happened on Interstate 5 near Tumwater.

Reports say that a 27-year-old Shelton man, driving a white 2016 Jeep Wrangler northbound on the southbound lane of I-5, that collided with a southbound gray 2018 Chevrolet Malibu occupied by the Chehalis woman and her 2 young passengers.

The head-on collision sent the Jeep to a cement barrier, while the Chevy ended up facing north in the third southbound lane.

Officials say that the Shelton man was driving impaired at the time of the crash, police arrested the man on suspicion of driving under the influence, vehicular homicide and vehicular assault.

Authorities say that the woman and the 2-year-old boy were pronounced dead at the scene, while the 8-year-old girl was transported to an area children’s hospital.

Police are investigating the deadly wrong-way crash and have not released additional information at this time.
