1 Killed, 1 Hurt in Afternoon Rollover Crash on Highway 1 in Wrightwood
WRIGHTWOOD, CA (November 24, 2018) – A man was killed following a rollover crash Saturday afternoon in the San Gabriel Mountains near Wrightwood, authorities said.
The crash happened around 1:10 p.m. near mile marker 70.60 of the Angeles Crest Highway (Highway 1) near the Dawson Saddle area.
According to the California Highway Patrol, a vehicle overturned and went about 450 feet over the side of the highway.
A 40-year-old man was found inside the vehicle and was pronounced dead by paramedics. His name and town of residence were not immediately available.
An injured woman was found on the right shoulder of the road.
The CHP requested Caltrans to close the roadway due to ice in the area and hazardous conditions. The road was closed from mile marker 39 to mile marker 70. A stretch of Highway 1 remained closed Sunday morning.
The incident remains under investigation.
