Two Pedestrians Hit and Injured by Pickup Truck in Cayucos Hotel Parking Lot
CAYUCOS, CA (November 2, 2019) – Two women were hit and injured by a pickup truck in a Cayucos Hotel Parking Lot, Saturday evening.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident happened in the parking lot of Shoreline Inn, at about 5:30 PM. A 79-year-old Fresno man was backing into a parking spot when his foot slipped off the brake and onto the gas pedal.
The truck accelerated, hitting two women on a picnic bench. The impact of the collision threw the victims to the ground.
Emergency responders rushed the victims, a 71-year-old woman from Fresno and a 66-year-old woman from Lemoore, to a hospital. They both suffered major injuries. Updates on their current conditions remain undisclosed.
Meanwhile, the driver remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators. He did not sustain injuries in the crash.
CHP continues to investigate the cause of the collision. Authorities ruled out drugs or alcohol as factors in the incident. Officers will release additional information once it becomes available.
