Woman Struck and Killed by Truck after Jumping from Overpass on 5 Freeway [Olympia, WA]

Fatal Accident Blocks Traffic on 5 Freeway

 
OLYMPIA, WA (August 12, 2019) – A truck struck and killed a woman after she jumped from an overpass on 5 Freeway southbound on early Tuesday morning.
 
According to the Washington State Department of Transportation, the collision happened near Capitol Boulevard Southeast at approximately 2:45 AM. Based on a report, the 50-year-old victim from Olympia jumped from the overpass and struck by a passing tractor-trailer.
 
An attending coroner declared the victim dead at the scene. Police did not release her identified yet. In addition, they also did No other injuries were reported.
 
All southbound lanes were blocked while authorities performed clearing. It is not yet clear why the woman jumped from the bridge. An investigation is ongoing.
