Female Bicyclist Hospitalized after Collision with Tanker Truck on Highway 99
MERCED, CA (June 28, 2018) – A woman was hospitalized Thursday evening following a bicycle collision at East Childs Avenue Bridge.
According to the Merced Police, the crash took place at 5:40 PM. The woman was riding her bicycle eastbound down the bridge on Highway 99 when she lost control of her brakes and slid through a stop sign. There, she collided with a tanker truck that was attempting to turn left from the Highway 99 north off-ramp.
The truck driver stopped at the scene and waited for the paramedics to arrive. After the woman was removed from underneath the back axles of the tanker trailer, she was rushed to a Modesto area hospital with a head injury. Details and updates about the woman’s condition were not immediately available.
Authorities did not release the identities of the people involved and no additional information has been disclosed to the public at this time.
