Woman Injured, Andres Salas Arrested in Garden Grove Suspected DUI Crash on Larson Avenue

GARDEN GROVE, CA (June 20, 2019) – A woman suffered serious injuries after an alleged DUI driver identified as Andres Salas crashed into her.

According to Garden Grove police Lt. Carl Whitney, just after 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, police rushed in the 8000 block of Larson Avenue. They found the victim pinned against her car.

The lieutenant said that the woman, who lives in the neighborhood, was standing at the rear of her vehicle when the suspect’s car slammed into her.

He attempted to flee, but collided into another car about 70 feet away, said Whitney.

Officers arrested 35-year-old Andres Ramon Salas, of Garden Grove, on suspicion of driving under the influence.

The 66-year-old Garden Grove woman, whose name was not yet available, received treatments for internal bleeding. She also had to have her legs amputated at UC Irvine Medical Center in Orange, where they listed her in critical condition.

Driving while under the influence is never a sensible idea and is against the law. You will most likely find yourself in dangerous road situations and collisions. If you’re impaired, have another sober person drive you home such as a trusted friend or a Rideshare.
