Woman Dies in Crash Between Vehicle and Semi-Truck in Los Angeles
LOS ANGELES, CA (February 20, 2019) – A woman in her 30s was killed when her vehicle hit a parked semi-truck in Los Angeles at around 12:30 p.m. Tuesday.
According to Austin Bennett, a spokesperson with the Los Angeles County Fire Department, the first-on-scene engine reported that a vehicle with one occupant was trapped underneath a semi-truck. The vehicle’s occupant was transported to a hospital but was pronounced dead on arrival.
The victim was said to be driving at unknown speeds when she failed to negotiate a curve in the roadway and struck the parked semi-truck on the right shoulder. The CHP is still investigating the collision, and the woman’s identity has not been released.
The CHP issued a SigAlert closing the northbound truck route from the 5 Freeway at the 14 Freeway. The truck route from the westbound 210 Freeway to the northbound 5 Freeway was also closed.
The SigAlert was lifted at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday, according to reports from the California Department of Transportation.
