One Killed and Two Hospitalized after 2-Car Collision at 14th Avenue
HANFORD, CA (June 28, 2018) – A woman was killed Thursday morning and two others were hospitalized following a two-vehicle crash on Idaho Avenue.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the collision took place shortly before 9:00 AM at the intersection of Idaho and 14th Avenues. An eastbound 2009 Nissan, driven by a 46-year-old Lemoore woman, was approaching 14th Avenue. At the same, a northbound 2018 Hyundai, driven by a 20-year-old Hanford woman, was approaching Idaho Avenue.
The vehicles collided after the Nissan driver failed to halt at the posted stop sign before entering the intersection. Both vehicles were pushed into an orchard on the northeast corner of the intersection as a result of the collision.
The Hyundai driver and her male juvenile passenger were rushed to the Adventist Medical Center in Hanford. Later that day, authorities confirmed that the driver was pronounced dead at the hospital, while the boy was transferred to the Valley Children’s Hospital in Madera. The Nissan driver was also transported to Adventist, where her condition remains unknown.
In the ongoing investigation, alcohol and drugs were ruled out as possible factors in the deadly collision. No additional information has been disclosed to the public at this time.
