1 Killed and 2 Hospitalized after Collision with Big Rig near Grant Line Road
ELK GROVE, CA (June 25, 2018) – A woman was killed and two others, including an infant, were hospitalized following a two-vehicle crash on Highway 99, on Monday night.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the deadly collision happened shortly before 10:00 PM near Grant Line Road. A southbound Pontiac collided with a big rig for unknown reasons. The impact of the crash crumpled the vehicle as it wedged under the semi tractor-trailer’s back wheels.
A 22-year-old passenger sitting in the front of the Pontiac was pronounced dead at the scene, while the driver and a one-year-old infant were transported to the UC Davis Medical Center with minor injuries. There is no update on their current condition at this time.
Drugs and alcohol were ruled out as possible contributing factors, and an investigation is ongoing to determine the main cause of the deadly crash. The identity of the deceased victim remains undisclosed, pending notification of family members.
