1 Dead after Car Crashes into Pickup Truck near Copus Road
BAKERSFIELD, CA (April 26, 2019) – A woman lost her life Friday evening following a two-vehicle crash on Highway 99. Authorities withheld the identity of the victim, pending notification of next of kin.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident happened near Copus Road, at about 8:30 PM. A BMW attempted to exit the southbound lanes of the highway when it failed to stop at a stop sign. There, it collided with an eastbound pickup truck.
A woman inside the BMW suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene by emergency responders. No other injuries were reported by the authorities.
An investigation is ongoing to determine the cause of the crash. Anyone who may have witnessed the fatal collision is asked to cooperate with investigators as soon as possible. Additional information will be released once it becomes available.
