1 Dead in Sunnyvale Train Accident on Sunnyvale Station
SUNNYVALE, CA (December 12, 2019) – A woman died in a train accident on Sunnyvale Station on December 2.
According to reports, a Caltrain struck the woman walking on the tracts north of the Sunnyvale station. The incident occurred at about 6:00 a.m. involving the No. 305 northbound Baby Bullet train. The unidentified victim died at the scene.
According to reports, around 170 passengers occupied the train during the crash. No one sustained any injury inside the train.
The San Mateo County Sheriff’s Office, which serves as Caltrain’s transit police, is currently handling the investigation.
The crash led to the delay of northbound lanes for up to 90 minutes while crews work at the scene. At about 7:00 a.m., the trains resumed but at restricted speeds. At 8:30 a.m., trains finally got back to normal operation.
