Female Pedestrian Killed in Florida Avenue Accident
Hemet, CA (July 02, 2021) – On Thursday, a woman was struck and killed by vehicle on Florida Avenue.
The accident took place at about 6:15 a.m. near the intersection of Inez Street.
Officers said the unidentified victim was standing on the south sidewalk of Florida Avenue. She was facing north on the four-lane road.
At the same time, a 49-year-old Hemet male driver of a 2008 Chrysler 300 was eastbound on Florida Avenue. He was driving roughly 40 mph when the pedestrian “stepped out into the roadway, directly in front of the sedan.
As a result, the sedan accidentally struck the female pedestrian.
The involved driver, who was not injured, immediately stopped and called 911.
Right away, rescuers arrived and initiated life-saving measures. Then, they took the victim to Hemet Valley Medical Center, where she died a shortly. An autopsy was pending.
The driver was questioned and officers determined he was not under the influence when the accident happened.
