Suspected Stolen Vehicle Involved in Crash on Central Avenue
NEWARK, CA (July 26, 2019) – A woman died in a suspected stolen vehicle crash on Central Avenue, Friday morning.
Police did not release the name of the 39-year-old victim from Fremont.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the collision took place near the intersection of Cedar Boulevard after 11:00 AM. Based on an initial report, two Fremont detectives tried to block a suspected stolen car after they saw a woman get into it at a parking stall. The woman ignored their verbal commands and rammed into their two police vehicles several times instead. After that, it drove off before colliding with two more cars not far from the scene.
Police stated the suspect died in the incident. One person in one of the victim vehicles suffered major injuries and was taken to a hospital for treatment. No police officers were reported injured in the commotion.
No other information had been released and an investigation is on-going.
