Driver Fatally Injured in Beaumont Rollover Accident on 60 Freeway
BEAUMONT, CA (May 11, 2019) — One woman died after a solo-vehicle rollover crash in Beaumont on Wednesday, May 8.
The fatal collision occurred on 60 Freeway just east of Jack Rabbit Trail. CHP, Cal Fire/Riverside County Fire, and other emergency personnel responded to the scene at about 12:48 p.m.
According to 911 callers, a white, full-size pickup truck veered off the freeway and onto the shoulder. They said it rolled off the highway, then went through a fence, and finally came to rest upside down on an adjacent road.
The unrestrained driver was partially ejected onto the roadway and she was crushed by the overturned vehicle, CHP Officer Darren Meyer stated.
When officials arrived at the area moments later, they discovered the overturned white, 2004 Ford F-250 on its roof. Several witnesses and good Samaritans surrounded the vehicle and tried to help the female driver. She is the sole occupant of the vehicle and the report described her as a woman in her 50’s.
Within minutes of their arrival, officials determined that the victim succumbed to sustained injuries.
The name and identity of the driver were not yet released.
CalTrans was later called to the scene to repair a section of fencing destroyed by the truck as it overturned.
CHP is still investigating the cause of the incident, according to Meyer.
