One Dead and One Injured after Semi-Truck Accident near Garfield Avenue
FRESNO, CA (September 5, 2018) – A woman was killed early Wednesday morning in a pedestrian crash on Shaw Avenue. The victim’s name was not yet released by the authorities, pending notification of next of kin.
The California Highway Patrol said that the collision occurred around 6:00 AM at the intersection of Garfield Avenue, near Highway 99.
According to reports, a semi-truck was traveling west on Shaw when a man and woman stepped out into its path from Garfield. Both were hit, sustaining critical injuries from the impact. The woman was pronounced dead at the scene by responding officials, and the man was rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment. There is no update on his current medical condition at this time.
It was dark at the time of the collision and there were no street lights in the area. The driver of the truck stopped at the scene and cooperated with officers in charge of the investigation. Shaw Avenue, between Garland and Chateau Fresno, were closed for a few hours while the authorities investigated the crash site. No additional information has been released to the public.
