Female Pedestrian Fatally Struck by Pickup Truck near Calle Pueblito
RANCHO BERNARDO, CA (October 15, 2018) – A woman was killed early Monday evening following a pedestrian crash on Bernardo Heights Parkway. The identity of the deceased victim is being withheld, pending notification of next of kin.
According to the San Diego Police Department, the incident took place at about 6:00 PM near Calle Pueblito. The pedestrian was walking outside of a crosswalk when she was struck by a 2004 Toyota Tundra.
The victim, described as a woman in her 30’s, suffered major internal injuries and was transported to a local hospital for treatment. Unfortunately, she died while undergoing emergency surgery. Meanwhile, the 63-year-old driver of the pickup truck remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators.
An investigation is ongoing to determine the cause of the crash and to identify possible contributing factors. It was also noted that there were no crosswalks, traffic lights, and stop signs for motorists on Bernardo Heights Parkway. Additional information will be released once it becomes available.
