31-Year-Old Woman Fatally Struck by Car near Foothill Drive
VISTA, CA (July 19, 2018) – A 31-year-old woman was struck and killed in a pedestrian collision on East Vista Way, on Thursday evening.
Authorities were alerted about the fatal crash at around 8:50 PM near the Albertsons shopping center on East Vista Way, just north of Foothill Drive. The pedestrian’s body was found in the roadway. She was resportedly not in a designated crosswalk when hit by a southbound Toyota Prius.
The driver, a 55-year-old woman, remained at the scene and cooperated with officials during their investigation. Her name and place of residence was not immediately disclosed. She was not injured, and was not suspected of speeding or driving under the influence.
Two lanes of traffic in one direction were shut down to traffic during the investigation. The California Highway Patrol implemented a Sig Alert for the area until around 12:30 AM. No further information about the cause of the collision has been released to the public at this time.
